PROJECT GENERAL INFORMATION:

A bank is a financial institution or establishment that uses money deposited by customers for investment, pays it out when required, makes loans at interest, and exchange currency. Fit out works however involves the process of making interior spaces suitable for all bank services to run smoothly. The project namely the Fit-out Works Bank Branch for NMB PLC at Ruangwa in Lindi region aims at providing all bank services to the people at Ruangwa and all nearby and far places. The project goal was to meet all designed and proposed fit out works bank for National Microfinance Bank PLC.

Project purpose

The project comprises of commercial building namely NMB Bank. The building is mainly for bank activities and all bank services such as keeping money safe for customers, to offer customers interest on deposits, helping to protect against money losing value against inflation, lending money to firms, customers and home buyers as well as offering financial advice and related financial services such as insurance. The bank building includes also the ATM fit out and the guard house.

Project main activities

  1. Super-structure activities

    Construction of block walls mainly partition walls were built at the banking hall that is between teller cubicles, between meeting room and customer service area, and at the information area board.

  2. Metal/Steel Works

    Rectangular Hollow Section (RHS) and Square Hollow Section (SHS) were commonly used in welded steel frames at different areas where members experience loading in multiples directions. They are the most versatile and efficient form for construction; in this project the hollow section was used in areas such as teller cubicles, customer service area, information area board and shelves at archive, strong room and book room.

  3. Service works

    These involves all electrical installations such as supply, installing and commissioning different cables, trucking, circuits, fire detection accessories and equipment’s, and control gears. Also, all structural data cabling work, and Air Conditioning installation works were done.

  4. Plumbing Works

    This involved water connections to the inside of the building, pump installations and tank mounting.

  5. Finishing works

    Including ceiling works which involved blundering works by using different size of timbers; plastering works especially for newly constructed partition walls; fixing of tiles to different places (toilets, ramps) and painting works on external and internal areas as approved by the consultant and in accordance with the drawings and bills of quantity.
